Theory was founded on the idea that the right clothing could give women confidence in life and work. As such, we feel that supporting organizations like Girl Up is vital. Girl Up is a leadership initiative founded by the United Nations Foundation to provide girls with the tools and resources to take action and achieve equal rights across the globe.
We believe that girls have the ability to transform their communities and the world around them. We envision a day when the statistics of today’s workplace where only 20% of C-suite executives are women and only 4% of C-suite executives are women of color, and where 1 in 4 women think gender has played a role in missing out on a raise, promotion, or a chance to get ahead, will be a thing of the past.*
For these numbers to change, we must empower women at a grassroots level.
Theory is partnering with Girl Up throughout the year at key moments, including International Women’s Day, International Day of the Girl, and Giving Tuesday, to shed light on the important work the organization is doing, to give girls a voice, to empower the next generation, and to inspire us all.
