Good Linen

Our newest, eco-friendly reinvention of a Theory classic. Woven by an environmentally-conscious mill in Italy, our signature stretch linen blend is now made with certified organic linen, cotton linter viscose, and recycled elastane.

Our purpose is to bring you the most modern, luxurious, and sustainable clothing we can.

Why Is It Good?

Theory’s certified organic linen comes from flax grown without chemicals in an area of China that receives abundant sunshine and rainwater. Our linen benefits from this natural irrigation, requiring little watering while fertilizing the surrounding soil during the natural process of maceration and producing virtually no waste

In addition to being the first company in the flax industry to use radio frequency dryers to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,000 tons a year, our linen yarn producer has met numerous standards and certifications, including and from:

  • ISO 9000 quality management
  • ISO 14000 environmental management
  • Oeko-Tex Standard 100
  • Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
  • Institute for Marketecology (IMO)
  • Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)

It is also a recognized member of the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals coalition and the American Fair Labor Association.

Consciously Produced
Good Linen continues the tradition of stretch linen at Theory, introduced 20 years ago to modernize the way linen could look and feel. Today we continue to partner with Marini Industrie, the renowned Italian mill, that is pioneering sustainability in the Prato region with its commitment to eliminate 11 hazardous substances from the production cycle by 2020, the CID corsortium of Italian mills working to detox the supply chain, traceability, and renewable energy for its new state-of-the-art headquarters.
